The "Mission Start" FMV after the level selection for the R.V.R.-00 "PHOENIX". Once again I chose a BGM to which is almost perfectly suited for the scene's overall feel, content, and length. I picked the track "Broken Thunder" from the album "Broken Thunder:project Thunder Force VI" composed mainly by Hyakutaru Tsukumo with a few others lending a hand. The album was originaly meant for the original Thunder Force VI that was being produced in 2,001 for the Sega Dreamcast. Unfortunately, the market fell out on the doomed machine and the project was cancelled, with only a half finished intro of the game existence. Tsukumo had a major falling out with Sega/Technosoft over licensing rights and use of the music. In the fall of 2,006, he released the unfinished OST under his label Factory/Noise and produced an un-official Doujin game titled "Broken Thunder" for the PC and used the tracks for the game's OST. The game was very terrible, and is no longer available. Due to the fallout between Sega/21 and Tsukumo, he was not approached to compose the OST for the new Thunder Force VI. Instead, Sega/21 hired Tamayo Kawamoto ("Ray Series" Darius Series), Go Sato (Raiden Series), and Masaharu Iwata (Gradius V)-3 VERY WELL know and respected composers, to compose the OST for Thunder Force VI:Legendary Wings. Kawamoto compsed the levels, Go Sato did the Boss BGM's, and Iwata the Staff Roll, Ending. The OST turned out to be decent, but wasn't what we're used to from a legendary series that's TRADEMARKED by it's music, nor did it really fit the game itself, which overall, felt like a rehash of TF's of old, an unsatisfactory difficulty (compared to Thunder Force IV and V) and unless you read Japanese, clueless as to the story line (You can earn 15 "Reports" which explain the story). Either way, enjoy!!! :)
